filter substrate channel

The filter substrate channel is a system for decentralised rainwater treatment (see also precipitation water treatment system). The main component is a channel body for collecting and conducting the rainwater, including the filter substrate contained therein, which has the function of cleaning the collected water. Some systems also have an additional retention volume. In addition to the mechanical filtration process, these systems use a range of substrates for biological (aerobic or anaerobic decomposition) and chemical/physical water-cleaning processes (precipitation, adsorption). Following national technical approval by the DIBt, it is even possible to use these decentralised rainwater treatment plants in combination with underground infiltration of the cleaned water. This counteracts the problem of increasing surface sealing and the natural water cycle remains.
